Directly responsible to the Director of Client Services for the overall management and administration of the facility based on the policies and procedures established and the program plan approved by the Department of Developmental Services.  Assures compliance with state laws and regulations, Title 17 and Title 22, and the implementation of facility’s policies and procedures.  Coordinates the functions of each department within the facility, serves as liaison to the Corporate Office, and the personnel.  Plans and implements responsibilities delegated by the Governing Body and/of the Corporate Office.  Organizes the facility programs within the framework of the operational budget.




  • Supervises staff in residential home(s)
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the operation and management of residential home(s)
  • Oversees day-to-day operations to ensure quality client care and proper client-to-staff ratios are maintained
  • Receives and responds to after-hours phone calls for emergency and non-emergency matters related to clients and/or staff which may require a visit to the facility(ies)
  • Interacts and maintains working relationship with Regional Centers, local, and state agencies
  • Manages and administers established home-based policies and procedures
  • Follows program as approved by the Department of Developmental Services
  • Screens clients in conjunction with on-site staff and Director of Client Services, based on input from referring Regional Center
  • Understands and maintains compliance to all federal, state, and local regulations including Title 17, Title 22, and ICF/MR Federal regulations, as well as all policies set forth in the Administrative Manual and UCPLA Employee Handbook
  • Assures clients’ rights are understood by all staff, and investigates and consults with residents, parents, and other concerned parties when a client’s welfare is threatened or there is suspected infringement of rights
  • Maintains fiscally sound budget, prepares budgetary reports, and submits invoices timely to Corporate office
  • Oversees and trains staff in proper use and maintenance of all equipment; obtains necessary repairs; supervises ordering, proper storage, and preparation of food; and maintains house(s) and property(ies) in good repair
  • Works collaboratively with Director of Client Services and Corporate office staff
  • Attends meetings, events, and other functions in support of the needs of the programs and services of the residential home(s)
  • Drives company van in support of client programming


  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or social sciences required
  • Current California Nursing Home Administrator License or meets requirements of a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional
  • Two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or experience in a related field
  • Management experience in field of human services or business preferred
  • Ability to successfully pass all post-offer pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, physical exam, drug screening, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Strong desire to work with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Interpersonal and employee management skills highly desired
