With 40 programs and service sites spanning several counties, United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) is the largest nonprofit provider of direct care services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Southern California.


UCPLA is currently hiring a Driver/Floater responsible for performing any combination of client care support functions such as driving and accompanying clients to physician appointments and outings; performing Direct Care Staff duties as directed to include Activities of Daily Living and all necessary care; purchasing client clothing and property; submitting receipts; and processing/organizing paperwork.


  • Maintains a level of professional conduct in working with clients and staff members which will promote a friendly, comfortable, safe environment where clients may progress socially, emotionally, and physically
  • Follows the training program as outlined in the clients’ Individual Service Plan (ISP)
  • Drives and accompanies clients to doctor appointments and outings
  • Assists clients with boarding and disembarking from vehicle; communicates with scheduling base regularly to ensure optimal use of time
  • Transports clients to various locations in a safe, efficient, and timely manner
  • Follows all traffic laws and regulatory procedures
  • Fulfills duties as Direct Care Staff, Receptionist, and/or Front Desk as directed
  • Assists in all departments as directed by Administrator
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet department and/or business needs



  • Valid California Class C Driver License
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Sufficient reading, writing, comprehension, and communication skills in English to perform essential duties and responsibilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate and work professionally and cooperatively with others
  • Ability to successfully pass all employee screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, lift, and transfer clients (with assistance of others and mechanical lift)
