With 40 programs and service sites spanning several counties, United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) is the largest nonprofit provider of direct care services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Southern California.

The Financial Analyst will partner closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, other senior management and staff to achieve goals of improving the finances and operations of UCPLA. This position will generate reports and manage applications to maximize funding with the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and Regional Centers (RC), the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and Medi-Cal, and other agencies. The role is responsible for financial analysis, projections, cost reporting, and accounting support.


  • Collaborates extensively with Operations, Program, and Finance staff and consultants to ensure management objectives are achieved
  • Provides the financial projections/cost reporting needed to support new rate and program applications as well as health & safety waivers
  • Applies for unanticipated rate change funding for service adjustments due to changes in or additions to existing statutes
  • Applies for negotiated rate requests to seek revenue increases
  • Completes new reporting requirements of DDS and RCs, DHCS and Medi-Cal, and other agencies
  • Produces pro-forma financial models for program proposals
  • Analyzes cost statements, programs, direct & indirect costs, allocations, vendors, and operating expenses to identify cost savings
  • Reviews processes for opportunities to increase efficiency and recommends process improvements
  • Develops financial and operational standard and ad hoc reports for management decision-making
  • Designs profitability models to compare programs, optimize performance levels, maximize profits, evolve projects, and identify new business models
  • Provides accounting review and support
  • Assists with annual budget development and analysis of quarterly forecasts
  • Participates in the process to convert the general ledger to a new accounting software system
  • Prepares ad hoc reports and projections, and works on special projects and analytics based on the needs of the business
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports accurate and timely data to ensure operational goals are met
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet department and/or business needs


  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in financial management
  • Recent experience working for a non-profit organization is preferred
  • Familiarity with DDS, RC, DHCS, and Medi-Cal a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills in Excel
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Efficient in requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation
