    With 40 programs and service sites spanning several counties, United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) is the largest nonprofit provider of direct care services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Southern California.


    UCPLA is currently hiring an Office Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) who will be responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and processing resident health care needs in a timely and appropriate manner per physician orders, Department of Public Health Services regulations, and UCPLA Policies and Procedures. This includes the communication of all health concerns immediately to the Administrator and RN.  


    • Interact effectively with members of the nursing department, direct care staff, and other facility staff, informing them of clients’ particular medical needs, treatments, precautions to be taken, observations to report, and direction/assistance as needed to provide optimum health care
    • Schedule, coordinate, and track appointments for all residents to maintain required medical, dental and vision care on an on-going basis; and accompany residents on health-related appointments as needed
    • Schedule, check, and report on lab work; accompany lab tech/x-ray tech to identify clients when nurse is not available
    • Complete Continuity of Care documents (COCs); transcribe new orders from appointments; call physician to clarify orders; obtain new orders; and review monthly lab slip and follow up reports
    • Assist with orientation of new staff related to clinical information, as directed by Administrator and RN; and provide in-service trainings in areas of client health needs, emergency procedures and infection control as requested by the Administrator and RN
    • Help assess residents’ health in absence of RN
    • Assist dietician with resident assessments and coordinate follow-through with Nursing Team
    • Review resident medical records to assure current, up-to-date medical information is maintained
    • Order supplies, durable medical equipment, house supplies, etc.; stock nursing office and houses, as needed
    • Understand and follow all UCPLA procedures and policies; understand facility’s fire/disaster procedures; understand role to follow in case of an emergency; and participate in emergency drills
    • Track license expirations for all LVNsPerform other duties as assigned to meet program and/or business needs



    • Graduate of a Board of Vocational Nursing approved school with a current California Licensed Vocational Nurse’s License
    • Minimum of two (2) years of LVN clinical experience
    • Previous experience in the care and treatment of individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred
    • Valid and current California Driver License
    • Ability to communicate and work professionally and cooperatively with others
    • Ability to successfully pass all employee screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, lift, and transfer residents (with assistance of others and mechanical lift)
