Schedule: 

Monday to Friday 9:30 AM - 4:15 PM 

 

With 40 programs and service sites spanning several counties, United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) is the largest nonprofit provider of direct care services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Southern California.

 

UCPLA is currently hiring Direct Care Staff (DCS) to assist developmentally disabled individuals with daily living needs in an Adult Day Program setting. Under direct supervision of highly qualified professionals, DCS monitor and support our clients’ needs, both physically and emotionally. DCS have the unique opportunity to build a rewarding career in healthcare and develop caring relationships with our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises clients and program activities
  • Secures a safe and clean environment
  • Assists clients with activities of daily living (such as toileting, hygiene, eating, and mobility)
  • Implements functional living skills consistent with ISP (Individual Service Plan) objectives as scheduled
  • Assists clients with community-based activities
  • Documents clients' behavioral and daily living skills data accurately and in a timely manner
  • Documents clients’ activity participation and critical issues in a timely manner

Qualifications

 

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality 

  • Ability to communicate and work professionally and cooperatively with others 

  • Ability to successfully pass all post-offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States 

  • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, lift, and transfer clients (with assistance of others and mechanical lift)
