    Schedules Available: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM Sunday - Wednesday &

                                         2:30 PM - 11:00 PM Wednesday - Saturday

     

    With 40 programs and service sites spanning several counties, United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) is the largest nonprofit provider of direct care services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Southern California.

     

    UCPLA is currently hiring Lead Direct Support Professionals (LDSPs) to assist developmentally disabled individuals with daily living needs in a group home residential setting. LDSP provide guidance and assistance to Direct Support Professionals regarding proper care assistance techniques. Under direct supervision of highly qualified professionals, LDSPs monitor and support our clients’ needs, both physically and emotionally. LDSPs have the unique opportunity to build a rewarding career in healthcare and develop caring relationships with our clients.

    Responsibilities

    • Delegates tasks to Direct Support Professionals
    • Provides clients with help moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, and automobiles, as well as with eating, dressing, and grooming.
    • Ensures clients are clean, dry, and all essential adaptive equipment is properly in place (such as arm splints, seat belts, and abdominal binders)
    • Follows the training program as outlined in each client's Individual Service Plan (ISP)
    • Respects and promotes the individual rights of clients, including maintaining the dignity of each person during daily care procedures
    • Provides direct client care and other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s) and/or nursing staff
    • Attends required in-service trainings
    • Performs other duties as assigned to meet department and/or business needs

    Qualifications

    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Sufficient reading, writing, comprehension, and communication skills in English to perform essential duties and responsibilities
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Ability to communicate and work professionally and cooperatively with others
    • Ability to successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, lift, and transfer clients (with assistance of others and mechanical lift)
    • Leadership experience desired for this role
