    With 40 programs and service sites spanning several counties, United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) is the largest nonprofit provider of direct care services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Southern California.

     

     

    UCPLA is currently hiring Lead Direct Support Professional (LDSP) to assist developmentally disabled individuals with daily living needs in a group home residential setting. LDSP provide guidance and assistance to Direct Support Professional regarding proper care assistance techniques. Under direct supervision of highly qualified professionals, LDSP monitor and support our clients’ needs, both physically and emotionally. LDSP have the unique opportunity to build a rewarding career in healthcare and develop caring relationships with our clients.

    Responsibilities

    • Delegates tasks to Direct Support Professional
    • Provides clients with help moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles, and with dressing and grooming.
    • Ensures clients are clean, dry, and all essential adaptive equipment is properly in place (such as arm splints, seat belts, and abdominal binders)
    • Follows the training program as outlined in the client's Individual Service Plans (ISPs)
    • Respects and promotes the individual rights of clients, including maintaining the dignity of each person during daily care procedures
    • Provides direct client care and other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s) and/or nursing staff

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Ability to follow directions, both written and verbal in English, to perform duties
    • Availability to attend required in-service training
    • Ability to work cooperatively with staff in all departments
    • Ability to successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including drug screening, criminal background check, physical exam, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Leadership experience desired for this role
