    With 40 programs and service sites spanning several counties, United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) is the largest nonprofit provider of direct care services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Southern California.

     

    UCPLA is currently hiring a Licensed Vocational Nurse II (LVN II) who will be responsible for basic skilled nursing care including medication administration, administration of treatments per physician orders, documentation of nursing care, communication of resident health concerns, assisting physicians and health staff as needed.  Additionally, this LVN II will assist RNs and the management team with the monthly/cycle medication reconciliation process, monthly physician rounds, and new staff orientation.  Must be flexible with assigned work days.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares assigned orientation materials and presents the materials to new staff per direction of the Administrator, Assistant Administrator, and RNs
    • Maintains medication and treatment supplies; places new treatment orders and re-orders; receives, checks in and distributes them according to Regulations
    • Receives and reviews 24-hour report at the beginning of shift; directly evaluates each assigned resident on an hourly basis
    • Communicates client’s change of condition as required; provides client status updates; informs staff of clients’ particular medical and precautionary needs
    • Carries out phone orders, makes appropriate appointments; and completes required notifications
    • Assists in initial evaluation of client upon admission
    • Monitors special diets, feeding clients, assisting/training staff in proper feeding techniques
    • Escorts clients to dental and medical appointments as needed
    • Documents in timely fashion treatments and nursing interventions
    • Follows Health Care Plan as written by Registered Nurse

     

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of a Board of Vocation Nursing approved school
    • Must be currently licensed by the California State Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians
    • Minimum of three years (ideally, five years) of fulltime LVN nursing experience is desired, preferably in long term care including the care of individuals with developmental disabilities
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Ability to communicate and work professionally and cooperatively with others
    • Ability to successfully pass all post-offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, lift, and transfer clients (with assistance of others and mechanical lift)
