    With 40 programs and service sites spanning several counties, United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) is the largest nonprofit provider of direct care services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Southern California.

     

    UCPLA is currently hiring a Clinical Nurse Administrator to supervise Registered Nurses (RNs) and nursing care at Thousand Oaks and other assigned locations, and to assist with supervising RNs and clinical nursing care at Chatsworth. The Clinical Nurse Administrator will assist the Director of Health Services (DHS) to ensure the clinical supervision, staffing training, and nursing support of both residential and day program clients are conducted per Title 17 and 22 regulations, CCL regulations, Board of Registered Nursing regulations, and UCPLA policies and procedures. The Clinical Nurse Administrator will share responsibility with the DHS for agency-wide Registered Nurse (RN) support coverage on a 24-hour per day, 7-day per week basis.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervises clinical orientation of new RNs at assigned locations in collaboration with the DHS
    • Ensures facility RNs successfully orient new staff LVNs through periodic review of curriculum and spot checks of hands-on orientation
    • Interacts effectively with members of the nursing department, administrators, QIDPs, Direct Support Professionals, and other facility staff to keep them informed of clients’ medical needs, precautions to be taken, and observations to report
    • Takes lead RN role for assigned complex residents requiring more intensive nursing support, working closely with the facility RN and management team
    • In partnership with the DHS, develops and maintains the Core Nursing Skills Competency training and performance program
    • Provides complex case management, interpreting data and recommending appropriate and timely interventions
    • Provides reports/recommendations as requested by the DHS concerning the operations of Nursing and Health Services
    • Works with DHS to define and implement nursing policies and procedures
    • Supervises LVN Instructor, and assists in development of lesson plans
    • Assists in providing direct RN coverage on a limited, as needed basis, as determined by DHS
    • Ensures nursing staff awareness and compliance with Federal and State regulations regarding clients' rights issues
    • Provides medication administration training for Chatsworth and Thousand Oaks ADP Direct Support Professionals per CCL and UCPLA policies and regulations
    • Promotes effective parent/family relationships by reporting concerns and progress made by clients in a timely manner and with a supportive and constructive approach; answers questions and acts as a liaison to ensure clients are provided appropriate services
    • Travels to various UCPLA locations and facilities in performance of duties
    • Performs other duties as assigned to meet department and business needs

    Qualifications

    • Valid California RN License
    • Proof of legal right to drive in California, and proof of insurance
    • Three (3) to five (5) years of full-time clinical experience as an RN, including recent experience in providing direct nursing care
    • Supervisory experience preferred
    • Experience working with adults with disabilities and/or developmental disabilities preferred
    • Excellent oral and written skills
    • Strong critical thinking skills
    • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
    • Ability to successfully pass all post-offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, and physical exam, and to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Able to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, lift, and transfer clients (with assistance/Hoyer Lift)
